Realism in war and all that, I kind of get, but it really came down to a single ship full of civilians against all of humanity. Still, it seems so weird to seeing all these soldiers trying to hard to kill a bunch of kids. This wasn't fun, flashy or exciting, but had the show taken that direction, it would have been a disservice to the characters. I could only look on in horror as everyone were brutally killed. The deaths happened so fast that it was hard to react. I will give the show credit though, rather than showing death as honorable or glamorous, Ideon shows death as ugly, quick, and gives very little time to prepare. As a result, this mostly blind viewing was quite.raw. I heard something about children getting killed off, but I hadn't seen any screenshots or clips of it, so I had no idea what to expect in that regard. Neon Genesis Evangelion had roots in this series.

So, my experience prior to watching Space Runaway Ideon were:ģ. Unless there were still healthy colonies lying around somewhere, humanity was wiped out. I suppose that was the most absolute method of ending the series. And, well, I guess as Kasha wanted, everyone became stars.
#Space runaway ideon trope series
I'm unsure of who this series was made for, but at the very least, once everyone died, they finally ran out of things to fight over. Was.was any of this really worth it at the end? The whole series was death and suffering, in spite of the vibrant color palette and easily toy figures this series might have inspired initially. So.It seems like the final solution to Space Runaway Ideon's plot was to kill everyone.

This film is going Noah's Arc, erasing all life to create new ones.Įveryone's dying left and right. Were there really that many civilians from Solo? Look back, it's a wonder how the Ideon manages to replace its dead soldiers and workers after all the battles it went through. "Seriously, what the hell!? Why are you doing this to us!?" You know, maybe the characters begrudging Ide is the characters speaking to Tomino, or whoever decided the film's plot.
#Space runaway ideon trope plus
Due to the nature of the plot, plus being on the Buff Clan's side, she really had no chance in the plot for any scrap of happiness. Harulu.well, she's in the running for one of the more tragic characters of the show. How.how is the baby still alive? Ide? Is that now the go-to excuse for everything right and wrong in the series? Karala hasn't even been pregnant for 4 months. Here we go.Ĭhildren synchronize with Ideon better than adults, huh? A giant mecha only being pilotable by kids? Sure is Evangelion in here. I mean, we had child pilots already, but I mean, actual little civilian kids holding guns shooting other soldiers. How can the Buff Clan continue casually blowing up planets? War or not, it continues to feel like the whole universe is out to destroy Ideon and kill all of its crew. I know Harulu had just identified the two as being the source of Ide's power, but goodness gracious. The goal of Harulu is to kill an infant and Karala's unborn child. I think this is one of those situations where had the main characters died from the show's onset, it would have actually saved humanity. I mean, she was reunited with Gije at least, but.geez. Though, I will say it's fascinating seeing Sheryl going from a woman of science to praying to either an omnipotent force or an actual god for mercy. So first few minutes of the film I see a dismembered head flying across the screen and it belong to-holy crap, what the hell Tomino.
